Court reads Ojukwu`s Will;1st son Debe not mentioned, another unknown daughter benefits,Bianca gets Lion share

The will of the late Ikemba Nnewi, Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, was on Friday presented to the family with his widow, Bianca, getting the lion’s share. The presentation by the Chief Registrar of the Enugu High Court, Mr Dennis Ekoh, was witnessed by Bianca, Mr Val Nwosu, Ojukwu’s first cousin, and Mr Mike Ejemba.

In the will, the late Ojukwu identified one Tenny Haman as one of his children. Ojukwu listed the children as Tenny Haman, Chukwuemeka Jnr, Mmegha, Okigbo, Ebele, Chineme, Afam and Nwachukwu.

The Ikemba gave the Casabianca Lodge at No. 7, Forest Crescent, GRA, Enugu, two property at Jabi and Kuje in the FCT as well as all his money and personal effects to his widow.

He also said that Bianca should replace him as the trustee in the family company, Ojukwu Transport Ltd, while also giving her two plots of land in his village at Nnewi. He, however, added that if she re-married, the land should be taken away from her.

The first son, Emeka Jnr., got the family house at Nnewi, while the newly mentioned daughter, Tenny Haman, got the Jubilee Hotel located in Zaria, Kaduna State. The Biafran warlord also shared other landed property in the village among all his children.

Ojukwu listed the trustees and executors of the will to include Bianca, Emeka Jnr and Mr James Chukwuneme. The will did not mention Ojukwu’s first son, Debe Ojukwu, the Akpunwa Nnewi.

Reacting to the will, Bianca, who is Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain, expressed satisfaction with its contents. “It was a fair will. This time round, he did not disappoint us,’’ she said.

The ambassador, however, expressed shock at the disclosure of a new daughter in the family, whom she said had never been mentioned by her husband. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that none of the children was present at the presentation of the will.

Angry wife stabs hubby to death for accusing her of infidelity

Residents of No. 8 Eze Street, off Okposi Street, Nkaliki, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State are still wondering on what. Could have prompted a woman to kill her husband whom she had lived with for several years.

Occupants of the compound woke in the morning to be greeted with the shocking news that Mr. Yaune Okorji, an Assistant Immigration Officer attached to Ebonyi State headquarters of the command has been reportedly killed by his wife during a domestic violence.

It was gathered that the late Okoroji and his wife, Mrs. Judith Okorji have been having serious marital crisis over infidelity before his sudden demise.

The ‘family war’ we learnt reached a crescendo the fateful day when the late Okoroji accused his wife of having affairs with another man in a hotel.

Sources said both the deceased and his embittered wife all hailed from Ahoada in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Eyewitness said the immigration officer was stabbed to death around 1:00am after a fight with his wife, Judith went beyond control.

The source who pleaded anonymity said that when late Okorji returned late to his matrimonial home on the fateful day, his wife who was already pregnant began to question the husband over his love for alcohol , which eventually ended up in a serious squabble and the wife allegedly stabbed the husband with a dagger.

The source said, “It was then that the wife out of annoyance grabbed a knife very close to her and stabbed him on the upper part of his left hand and it pierced through his chest and the man fell down, with blood gushing out .

Neighbours who were attracted to the scene, grabbed him and rushed him to the Federal Teaching Hospital.

Unfortunately, he died on the way to the hospital”.

It was learnt that some angry relatives of the murdered Okorji in a revenge responded to the incident by setting the house of the suspect ablaze.

DailyPost gathered that there’s serious tension in the community.

The Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sylvester Igbo who confirmed the incident said that Mrs. Judith Okorji, 24, had since been arrested by the command for allegedly stabbing her husband to death after a quarrel bordering on infidelity.

According to the police spokesman, “When the matter was reported, the police went to the scene and she was arrested. In the course of the investigation, she made confessional statement to the police. The Police discovered that she used the dagger belonging to the husband to stab him during the quarrel.

The deceased was a staff of Immigration here in the state from Ahoda East in Rivers State. They were living as husband and wife before the incident”.

According to him, investigation had so far been carried out by the command on the matter and it shows that the accused, a nursing mother of three, might have been enraged after her late husband accused her of sleeping with another man.

Igbo revealed that the accused, who is also a law student of the Nigeria Open University (NOU) had confessed to have committed the crime but claimed that it was the devil that pushed her.

It was learnt that at Judith who was previously in police custody, was later charged to court and remanded in prison custody for further investigation as the body of the deceased had been deposited at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, FETHA, for autopsy.
Daily Post gathered that the fatherless children are presently in the care of Mrs. Eddy, a close friend to Judith.

85-yr-old Man Allegedly Rapes 12-yr-old Girl in Ekiti!

The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested an 85-year-old man, Samuel Oladipupo, for allegedly raping a 12-year-old JSS 1 pupil.

Our correspondent gathered that the suspect had on Sunday called the victim (name withheld) and sent her on an errand but later accused the girl of stealing his phone.

In the process of searching for the phone, Oladipupo was said to have grabbed the girl in his sitting room and forcibly had sex with her.

The suspect, however, denied having sex with the girl insisting that the pupil seduced him. He said he attempted to have sex with the girl but controlled himself when he realised that the girl might have been sent to lure him into trouble.

Oladipupo, who is said to have two wives, told journalists at the Police headquarters that he sent the victim on an errand to buy him a recharge card.

He added that when the girl returned, she said she was hungry and he offered her food.

According to Oladipupo, while eating, she stripped herself naked, exposed her breasts and asked him to explain while her two breasts were not the same size.

“At his point, I became aroused and I made an attempt to have sex with her but as I was about to penetrate her, I realised that she might have been sent to put me in trouble. So, I jumped up and left her. I did not have sex with her,” the suspect said.

But the victim who denied that she seduced the old man said she had gone to mend her sandals when the suspect sent her to buy him a recharge card.

She said after buying the card and loaded it in the man’s phone, Oladipupo later accused her of stealing his phone.

She stated that the suspect accosted her and she followed him to his apartment. But on getting to his sitting room, the girl said the phone was found on the television and he apologised.

“As I was about to go out of the room, the man grabbed me and pushed me to the sofa in his room and forcibly had sex with me. I screamed and a woman who heard the noise came in and took me to my mother,” the girl said.

The victim’s father, who wished to be identified as Ojo, said the suspect was fond of molesting teenagers, adding that his atrocities had always been kept secret because of his age.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Victor Babayemi, said the victim had been taken to a hospital for medical examination to ascertain if the man had sex with her.

He added that the police had contacted the Ekiti State Gender-Based Violence Prohibition Committee to rehabilitate the victim.

Babayemi added that the case would be charged to court as soon as the investigation was concluded.

Finally The Long Awaited Movies Are On DVD's: ADESUWA, IN THE CUPBOARD and I'll TAKE MY CHANCES

ADESUWA – 'a wasted lust' is a movie that talked about love, dignity, friendship, betrayer, lust, decision taken and standing by it, knowing where to stand at the right time and going after what belonges to you.

The leading actress, Iyobosa Olaya who played the role of princess ADESUWA nailed it as she sinks her teeth deep into the character of princess ADESUWA, dominating every frame of the film, and looking like a million dollars through all of it.

Princess ADESUWA is a role most actresses in Nollywood would kill for to demonstrate everything that they have to offer in the acting department. But Iyobosa Olaya takes this opportunity, puts it in a brown paper bag, blows in it, seals the opening and slaps it for an optimal explosion.

If you love epic movies like IGODO, Festival of Fire, Ibuka the King of Forest, Egg of Life then you are in for ADESUWA, featuring Olu Jacobs, Ngozi Ezeonu, Bob-Manuel Udokwu, Kofi Adjorlolo, Cliff Igbinovia, Iyobosa Olaya as Princess ADESUWA and directed by Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen.

ADESUWA is definitely a must watch for every home.

IN THE CUPBOARD - Stands out, you won't want to miss a single scene of this movie and the climax is what we've never experienced in any Nollywood movies. Every single cast member has his or her own unique talent, and as for Uti Nwachukwu WOW, he is good.

One of the reasons I bought the movie is to mock him but he ended up spitting on my face. And there is this new talent Tessy Abubakar, damn that girl is good, I mean good.

The movie talked about a very big family that later found out that? What they found out is what makes the movie ... So you have to watch to know what they found out. What I learnt from IN THE CUPBOARD is patience, respect, learn to love and forgive. It's a movie you have to watch with your children and keep for your grandchildren. Yes it worth keeping for grandchildren.

I'll TAKE MY CHANCES - First of all if you are expecting Ini Edo to dance then you are in for a big disappointment. Because to me she did nothing in the dancing part, I'm sorry. Ini disappoints me because I see I'll TAKE MY CHANCES as a movie where she will re-brand herself, showing us another Ini, showing us what we don't expect from her on-screen, but she failed big time.

The story is like every other Nollywood movies we've been watching, but in a different dimension. The people I would love to recommend this movie for, are people living outside Nigeria, people born by Nigerians living outside Nigeria or people that have been dying to see the country called Nigeria. Because one of the best locations is being used in the movie, the movie shows places you gonna fall in love with.

And to those insulting Bryan Okwara, common he did Impressively well.

These movies are now on sale nationwide! Go grab your copies from your local video stores!

STARDOM IS NOT BY FORCE!!!

Nollywood Actress Mary Remmy who got married some months back to the C.E.O of Iroko Tv now uses her position as the wife to the C.E.O of Iroko Tv to victimize people who are not her friends in the industry.

She uses her position to influence some nollywood producers who partner with the husband by telling them what to do. By dictating which role she wants to play in the production.

Furthermore, we gathered from another source that after shooting movies with some actresses who most times acts bigger and better roles than she does, in the listing of the cast on their Iroko Tv site, she would insist that those names be EXEMPTED and most times would even put hers before the name of the star in a movie.

Also we heard that she would involve herself in every production that her husband partners with a producer to produce and she would insist on some people not being used in these jobs

Mrs Mary Remmy Njoku has been in the movie industry for long but stardom is not by force and cannot be bought, neither can it be obtained by stepping on peoples heads... She should take it easy because what goes around, must surely come around.

Please what do you think about this?

Police Pension: Reps Threaten To Order Okonjo-Iweala’s Arrest

The House of Representatives, yesterday, threatened to issue a warrant of arrest against the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, over her refusal to honour invitations from its Committee on Pensions.

Members of the committee also want the Finance Minister to explain her role in the take-over of Police Pension Fund and non-payment of pensions to retired officers and men of the Nigerian Police Force.
Chairman of the Committee on Pension, Ibrahim Kamba, read the decision of the committee after waiting for the minister for several hours without any apology for non-appearance.
He noted that it was obvious that the minister was not ready to appear to explain why the ministry took over Police Pension office without regard to Pension Reform Act.
“We have been inviting the Minister of Finance over the problems of police pension. She has been holding the police pension and several police pensioners have died due to non-payment despite the fact that the National Assembly appropriated money in the 2012 fiscal year.
“Following her refusal, the committee is going to issue a warrant of arrest against the minister if she fails to attend the next meeting.
“We are going to give her a last opportunity. She has no right to neglect the summons of the committee. Many former IGs have not been paid. Sunday Ehindero and Sunday Adewusi and DIG Akeredolu have not been listed due to the take-over by the minister.
“We want to make the reason for our action clear to Nigerians. We hate playing with peoples’ lives. We have received some petitions from the police that many police pensioners are not paid.”

“Referee called Mikel a Monkey”-Ramires Confesses

Ramires remains adamant that he heard Mark Clattenburg make a racist comment despite Chelsea admitting their ‘regret’ over the affair in a statement on Wednesday, according to the Times.
In a joint statement from Chelsea, the Premier League and the Professional Game Match Officials Limited – issued in the wake of talks that were revealed by Sportsmail to have taken place on Monday – the European champions conceded that their actions caused Clattenburg and his family huge distress, even though they stopped short of apologising.

But if the Brazilian still insists he heard Clattenburg call midfielder John Obi Mikel a ‘monkey’ then it raises serious questions as to whether the referee can officiate at a Chelsea match in the near future.
It has even been alleged that Ramires would refuse to shake Clattenburg’s hand should they meet again this season.
Ramires gave evidence to the FA that he heard the referee shout ‘Shut up you monkey,’ at Mikel but the governing body cleared the referee last week.
On Tuesday, Chelsea admitted it had been a mistake to rush out a press release on the night of their defeat by Manchester United when the accusation that Clattenburg had called John Mikel Obi a ‘monkey’ was so serious.

Tonto Dike – “If I keep waiting for an Igbo man, I will just end up like Genevieve Nnaji who is eternally single”

This piece was culled from an interview Tonto Dike had recently with a reporter from Punch. Excerpt from the interview:

Interviewer: We just learnt that you will be getting married soon to your new boyfriend who happens to come from Benin, Edo state. Why are so many Nollywood female starts getting snapped up by Benin or men from Edo state?

Tonto Dike: First of all, it is nobody’s business where my fiance is from. That out of the way, yes Benin men are great and very understanding. They are not sitting and judging you unlike an Igbo man that will want to be poke-nosing in everything you do. You make your money and the Edo man is not interested in your personal affairs . “If I keep waiting for an Igbo man, I will just end up like Genevieve Nnaji who is eternally single.”

Tonto dike Debunked the statement above…
In a reaction to the alleged interview, which has spread like harmmatan fire, Tonto reacted this way, “I have never and will never say anything against Genevieve. I will not even interfere in her personal issues. I did not grant such interview.”
Her publicist also denied any such statement from Tonto dike. The publicist said, “after her interview with you (NFC) last year December, Tonto dike has only granted an interview with a soft-sell magazine, which was done about three months ago.
So, I don’t know where that purported interview came from or when such was granted.”

RMD In Fraud Mess; Allegedly Embezzles N50m In Delta State

Popular Nollywood actor turned politician, Richard Mofe Damijo (popularly called RMD), who's the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Delta State has allegedly embezzled N50 million belonging to the ministry, together with the acting General Manager of the state’s Tourism Board, Philo Nkem Ajufo. Sources in Delta State, including two employees of the Culture Ministry, told our reporter that a former commissioner in the Ministry had requested N50 million to organize the “Delta State Expo 2007.” However, the state government was unable to release the funds that particular year to sponsor the yearly event. By some bizarre twist, the funds were finally released to the ministry’s tourism account in May, 2012. “As soon as the money arrived, the commissioner said that the ministry could no longer hold the event since six years had elapsed,” said a source within the ministry. “The Honorable Commissioners also argued that Deltans would have forgotten about the event – and therefore the money should not be used for the purpose it was released.” However, our reporter obtained documents from the Delta State Ministry of Finance stipulating that the N50 million must be spent on the event for which the Culture Ministry applied for it. The warrant was signed by one P.O. Evuojapha on behalf of the state's Commissioner of Finance. The warrant indicated that N35 million of the funds was to go to the Tourism Board. Our sources disclosed that RMD connived to issue a check of N35 million in the name of Ms. Ajufo who reportedly deposited the sum into her First Bank private account number 3006131619. “Mrs. Ajufo and RMD then shared the money,” one of our sources asserted. Another government source said, “It is very obvious that the manner the check was issued in the name of the board GM instead of in the name of the board was fraudulent. It portrays an element of fraud.” Several of our sources depicted Ms. Ajufo as somebody versed in the art of warming up to top politicians in the state and getting her way. Two sources said Ms. Ajufo used her share of the looted funds to start off a twin duplex building located at No.6 Dunkwu Crescent in Asaba, the state capital. The building is behind Junior Staff quarters and near a Redeemed Christian Church. One source said Ms. Ajufo started the project in June, 2012. Surprisingly, a source close to Ms. Ajufo told SaharaReporters that the head of the tourism board had denied receiving any of the embezzled funds. “She accused Mr. Mofe Damijo of carting away the whole sum of N50 million even when her account was used to commit the fraud,” said the source. Meanwhile, Ms. Ajufo’s staff have reportedly lost all patience with her manner of running the board. “The acting GM is very, very corrupt,” said a staffer. “As we talk, apart from her official car, the Tourism Board cannot boast of a single functional car. All the board’s cars are grounded. And in this era of technology, there is no single working computer apart from one in her office – which she doesn’t use. Her office is entitled to N1 million subventions every month, but as soon as the money comes the commissioner and the GM share most of it. The left over is never properly used by the GM.” When a reporter sent a text to Ms. Ajufo, the embattled GM wrote back, “Please, speak with the Honorable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism. Thank you.” Contacted by phone, Mr. Damijo denied all the allegations, insisting that no such money was released to his ministry at any time. “That matter is a dead matter,” he said. “There was no N50 million released to my ministry.” I run the Ministry with people, the Permanent Secretary and other directors.” Source: SaharaReporters

‘How my daughter’s fiancé bathed her with acid’ bathed her with acid’

The motive behind the acid bath of 22-year-old Chika Egbo by her estranged lover, David Sulaimon, remains elusive, but one thing is sure, the victim may not remain the same again. Chika is a student of the Enugu State College of Education. Last Tuesday, when our correspondent visited her at the Burns Unit of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Egbo has become a shadow of the beautiful girl she was. The substance Sulaimon allegedly poured on her had destroyed every visible skin from her chest upwards. She mumbled to her father, a Taraba State-based businessman, as she could neither see nor speak properly at the time. When her father, Matthew Egbo, narrated the incident that led to Chika’s state, the story brought tears to his eyes as he lamented that his daughter would never be normal again. Matthew said, “In March 2011, someone who identified himself as Lekan Sulaimon called me, asking for my daughter’s hand in marriage. We talked a lot and I promised to speak with Chika on the issue. “My daughter later told me he was the boy she was in love with and said she had resolved to marry him.” After much discussion, Matthew told Sulaimon to bring his parents for proper introduction, but the suitor said his father was ill and needed to be taken abroad for treatment. He also said his mother was abroad. Matthew said, “On the June 25 date that we agreed on, Sulaimon brought seven men and four women dressed in Yoruba attire to my hometown, Enugu, where we held the introduction. “But around November last year, my wife travelled from Taraba to Enugu and Chika told her she was pregnant.” According to Matthew, Chika told her parents they should not be alarmed since she and Sulaiman had agreed to get married. Chika was instructed to go to Lagos and tell Sulaiman’s relations about the pregnancy. But when she got back from Lagos, Chika told her father that she discovered that most of what Sulaiman had told her about his parents were lies. Matthew explained, “For instance, Chika discovered that Sulaimon’s father was hale and hearty. The father told her he was not aware of any plans by his son to get married. “She also learnt that the mother was not abroad too. She visited her and she told us the woman received her well and even expressed joy that his son had found someone to marry. “But after the visit, we heard nothing from neither Sulaimon nor his parents until after my daughter gave birth to a baby girl on May 4. Our correspondent learnt that Chika had broached the idea of abortion to her parents, as she told them it was apparent that the man she was in love with had lied to her all along. Matthew forbade her to consider abortion. After the baby was born, Chika was said to have informed Sulaimon, but he gave series of excuses why he could not visit her. He reportedly told her he was facing some challenges and did not have the wherewithal to take care of the baby at the moment. After a few months, Chika’s baby girl was weaned and taken to Taraba to live with Matthew and his wife. The Egbos said they took the decision to take the baby off their daughter’s hands so that she could continue her study. PUNCH Metro learnt that in November, Sulaimon began to request that he needed to see his baby, but Matthew told him to bring his parents to come and iron things out. Chika was said to have insisted she did not want to have anything to do with the young man anymore. But on November 5, Chika travelled to Lagos after Sulaimon had informed her that his mother wanted to see her. The unsuspecting girl left Enugu without informing her parents. “My phone just rang that day and I was told to come to Lagos because a young man had poured acid on my daughter,” Chika’s father said. Matthew said the message came as a rude shock since he was not aware his daughter went to Lagos. He explained that the police were the ones who got his number from her phone. He said,“What I learnt was that when she arrived Igando, Lagos, Sulaimon met her and she demanded that he should take her to his mother who wanted to see her. “What we gathered from the little she could mumble to us was that Sulaimon went behind a house and as they were about to pick an okada to his mother’s house, he brought out a polythene. “But when they stopped at a point and Chika thought they were going to proceed to his mother’s house, he just opened a container in the polythene he was carrying and emptied its content on her head. “She told us when she realised that what Sulaimon poured on her had began eating into her skin, she raised the alarm and called for help.” PUNCH Metro learnt that passersby and sympathisers, who had been alerted to the young woman’s plight, pursued the fleeing Sulaimon. He was caught and taken to Ikotun Police Station. “Till now, I still don’t know why he did what he did,” Matthew said. Divisional Police Officer of Ikotun, Mr. Augustin Akika, confirmed the incident, but said the suspect had been transferred to the state Criminal Investigations Department, Yaba.

Please don't disclose my identity as I am ashamed to bring this issue to the public. But am fed up of keeping this to myself. I hail from a village in (don’t reveal this one too). In our village, it is a taboo to beat a woman and this is the advantage my wife has been abusing. She beats me on the slightest argument and provocation. Sometimes, she beats me in front of the children. One of my children once asked me that why is it that whenever their mum beats me, I won't touch her. I made my little son realize the disadvantages of beating a woman and this has made my two children to start hating their mother. This is another problem. I have tried discussing this issues with my wife, but whenever I try bringing it up, it becomes another tale and beating. I love my wife and I don't want this problem to get to our families. Please advise, what do you think I can do? Because am already losing my mind. Feel FREE to SHARE!

President Zuma Kills 12 Cows In Ritual To Extend Tenure

President Jacob Zuma’s family killed 12 cows in a ritual believed to be aimed at extending his tenure ahead of the ANC’s national elective conference in Mangaung, according to a report. The Star reported that the family held the ritual at his Nkandla residence on Sunday to commune with Zuma’s ancestors. Although no other African National Congress leaders were seen at the event, Zuma joined Zulu warriors in traditional dances as thousands of his relatives prayed for him to retain his position of ANC president. Zuma was reportedly given a shield and spear to defend himself from other contenders for the ANC’s top position. Zuma’s son Edward told police and security personnel to expel the media towards the end of the celebrations. A reporter for The Mercury was apparently manhandled off the premises by police.

UN Rank Nigeria Among Top 5 Countries That Defecate In The Open

The United Nations on Monday in Abuja ranked Nigeria among top five countries in the world with the largest number of people defecating in the open. The UN, which in its recent report, revealed that 34 million Nigerians defecate in the public, however, expressed optimism that ending the unhealthy practice was possible. The UNICEF Communication Specialist (Media and External Relations) in Nigeria, Mr. Geoffrey Njoku, in a statement on the World Toilet Day, said trends in the past five years allow for cautious optimism that significant progress would be made in decreasing the number of people globally who practise open defecation. Quoting a joint UNICEF and World Health Organisation report of 2012, Njoku said, “It is estimated that 34 million Nigerians practise open defecation and Nigeria is amongst top five countries in the world with largest number of people defecating in the open.” According to him, in Nigeria, it is estimated that diarrhoea kills about 194,000 children under five every year while respiratory infections kill another 240,000. “These are largely preventable with improvements in water, sanitation and hygiene,” he stressed. Globally, UNICEF is supporting 50 countries including Nigeria to implement community approaches to total sanitation such as Community-Led Total Sanitation aimed at empowering communities to identify their sanitation challenges and take necessary actions to end open defecation. He said, “CLTS aims to make all communities free of open defecation by focusing on social and behaviour change and the use of affordable, appropriate technologies. “The emphasis is on the sustainable use of sanitation facilities, rather than the construction of infrastructure, and the approach depends on the engagement of members of the community ranging from individuals, to schools, to traditional leaders. Communities use their own capacities to attain their objectives and take a central role in planning and implementing improved sanitation.” The UNICEF Country Representative in Nigeria, Ibrahima Fall, said, “CLTS is simple and an effective way of improving access to sanitation while also paving the way for their improved health.” Meanwhile, a Non-Governmental Organisation, WaterAid Nigeria, on Monday in Abuja stated that Nigeria had been losing about N455bn annually due to poor sanitation and bad hygiene. The organisation also said about 54 million Nigerian women and girls did not have safe and adequate sanitation while 17 million of them did not have a toilet at all. The Country Representative of WAN, Mr. Michael Ojo, and Head of Governance, Tolani Busari, at a press briefing on the World Toilet Day, however, said the crisis could be solved.

Davido To Float O.B.O. Clothing Line In 2013

One of the business sides of entertainment is about leveraging on one’s brand or popularity to delve into a venture that could be either successful or unsuccessful – there’s no middle ground! Usually, it follows a well thought out process that involves a lot of market research, level of acceptability of the brand, product desirability and sustainability. Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs knows this so well; Shawn ‘Jay Z’ Carter as well as so is Curtis ‘Fifty’ Jackson – these men knew how to leverage on their brand as successful entertainers to launch a foray into business and it’s paying off. Not everyone is so lucky! It also takes more than just brand name to risk entering into business. Dbanj knows this; he is one of Africa’s most successful and visible brands but I don’t see majority of his fans using the Koko Mobile despite the media hype that greeted its launch. What about Ruggedman’s clothing line? Some of these things are done to boost self ego and nothing more! So, for David ‘Davido’ Adeleke who just clocked 20 last week and has barely spent up to two years on the scene but wants to float a clothing line come next year, how thought out is that? He’s successful musically by most standards but, will that success rub off on his latest daring venture? Time will tell.

Nigerian lady sentenced to 80 years in prison over deaths of toddlers in her care.

24 year old Nigerian/American woman, Jessica Tata, was sentenced to 80 years in prison on Monday November 20th after being found guilty of the death of one of four children killed in a fire at her home day care in Houston. 16-month-old Elias Castillo and three other toddlers died after Tata left them unsupervised at her home while she went to a nearby store. Prosecutors say she left a pan of oil cooking atop a stovetop burner and that this ignited the February 2011 blaze. There were 7 children when the fire started, four died, three survived. Tata still faces three more counts of felony murder in relation to the other children who died, and three counts of abandoning a child and two counts of reckless injury to a child in relation to three who were hurt. So she will be getting more years added to the 80 as other cases come up. Do you think she deserves the sentence?

“No Retreat, No Surrender To Boko Haram” -Northern CAN

The Executive Secretary, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 Northern states and Abuja, Professor Daniel Babayi has reacted to the bomb blast that rocked the Saint Andrews Protestant Military Church in Jaji cantonment, Kaduna State. The scribe reiterated that Christianity had come to stay in the North no matter the level of bombing of churches in the region. “We Christians in the North will not retreat or surrender to Boko Haram, no matter the number of churches they bombed in the North. Christianity has come to stay in the region, nobody can chase Christians away. “This is our home, this is our country and we must remain here.” Meanwhile, the death toll from Sunday attacks has reportedly risen to forty this is even as the military authority was yet to give update on the number of death.

Imo Governor, Okorocha, Calls For The Scrapping Of NYSC

Imo State Governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha, has called for the scrapping of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and advocated for the setting up of specialised institutions to improve the standard of education in the country. Okorocha who said this in a speech he delivered at the 50th anniversary lecture of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria in Kaduna State said the NYSC scheme had outlived its usefulness. “The NYSC was set up to promote unity but that has failed, so we need to look into other areas to improve the quality of education for our youths’ he said. Okorocha called for the establishment of specialised schools like the Law School in all fields of study to equip students with practical skills to fit into the modern society. “It is worrying that some of our graduates cannot read or write but if they attend specialised schools after graduation they can have more practical skills than theoretical,” he added. Okorocha said exposing graduates to further practical skill acquisition would also assist government to determine the placement of universities on the scale of excellence. “We should stop grading universities by age but by specialisation which can be achieved through exposure to other graduates in a post graduate school,” he added. The governor called on universities to also consider alternative sources of funding rather than relying on government for all revenue. “Universities can set up farms to produce food and technology firms to bid for contracts to increase internal revenue,” he said. Okorocha also called on universities to look into the bloated number of staff to save costs. “Most universities have a huge number of non-academic staff and other non-essential staff coupled with adjunct teachers that are a drain on the resources of universities,” he stated. Okorocha challenged the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to cooperate with university authorities to survive by reducing consistent demands for wage increases and allowances. “ASUU should do more than just plan for strikes over the least problems. They should engage university authorities on ways to save costs,” he said. Source: THISDAY News

Man gets cancer after injecting his manhood with olive oil

The 50-year-old man was admitted in a Thailand hospital after his genitalia reportedly swelled to the size of a coconut. The man had to have his penis removed after injecting it with olive oil to make it bigger. He underwent the illegal penis enlargement procedure five years ago, where he was injected with olive oil. The man’s genitals were working “just fine” until he contracted an infection from an untreated wound six months ago. Police Capt. Dr Surat Kittisup-Porn of the Police General Hospital told reporters: “He was ashamed to visit a doctor, but the pain and the infection grew so he had no choice.” He was admitted to a private hospital where doctors discovered he was suffering from penis cancer, which had spread to his abdomen and testicles. Medics were left with no choice but to remove his penis. Discussing the controversial olive oil procedure, hospital spokeswoman, Sirikul Jiaranaikhajorn, said: “It only brings bad results. People misunderstand that it works. “A woman will love a man not because of the size.”

Tax Should Be Extended To Churches, Mosques – Falana

As the debate continues to rage over the acquisition of private jets by religious figures, human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), has suggested that taxes be imposed on churches and mosques in the country.
Falana, who expressed worry about the role of religious bodies in the fight against corruption, gave this indication while delivering a lecture, ‘Asking the unasked questions: society, corruption and punishment in Nigeria’ in Lagos on Monday. Falana who was representing Prof. Wole Soyinka at a workshop entitled ‘the dynamics of cashless economy and emerging methods in financial crimes,’ said both society and the government had failed in the fight against corruption. He said, “Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, someone who just acquired his own jet a couple of weeks ago, took a swipe at Pastor Tunde Bakare for condemning their crave for jets and opulent life. He (Oritsejafor) said everything a pastor could get for evangelism should be acquired, not minding the economic situation of the people “If this is the case then, the tax authorities must extend their dragnets to all religious centres where substantial income is generated on a regular basis in the name of God. The prosperity pastors, who are buying jets to preach the gospel to those who wallow in abject poverty should be assessed according to their wealth and be made to pay commensurate taxes. “After all, they pay appropriate fees for parking their jets at local and international airports at home and abroad.” Falana also noted that death penalty was logical but not necessary in curbing corruption. According to him, death penalty for crimes such as robbery has not served as a deterrent and will not work in this regard. He said, “Notwithstanding the horrendous effect of corruption in the society, we should not be frustrated to support the campaign for the brutalization of humanity through the death penalty. “Even in Nigeria, our experience with murder and armed robbery has proved that death penalty is not a deterrent for violent crimes.”
